My wife and I hadn't been to the Trinity Mountains since the infamous, thunderstorm trip of 2009.

We were set to climb Scotch Benchmark, Peak 9037, and Trinity Mountain (a repeat for me, but new for my wife).

We came up via Rocky Bar, but noticed the roads had deteriorated a LOT since last trip. We bounced around until we reached the saddle between Peak 9037 and Trinity Mountain. We then climbed the short, but steep 600' to the top of Peak 9037.

The views over to Trinity Mountain from Peak 9037 were impressive. Also impressive was reading through the summit register. It contained several entries from friends, but also great entries from firefighters assigned to the various fires that had hit the area in the last few years.

We then headed back down to the vehicle and then hiked the road up to Trinity Mountain. My wife thoroughly enjoyed the views of Rainbow Basin. After enjoying the views and snapping selfies, we headed back down.

Since the road in from the north was so bad, we figured we'd head out to the south. This road may have been even worse, with sharp rocks and slow going. We eventually hit smooth roads and cruised out via Pine.

On return, we stopped at the Little Camas Inn. I'd flew by it dozens of times, but this place is fun and has good, unique food (Oyster Po'boy anyone?). I hadn't golfed in years, but the owner insisted I hit some golf balls on the range in the back with him... after 2 horrifying swings, I rallied and started driving the ball on subsequent swings. Fun times!

There are at least 3 different ways to get to the Trinity Mountain area. We came in from the north via Featherville and Rocky Bar. On the way out, we went to the south. Both roads are pretty rugged within about 5 miles of the Trinity Mountain area.

To get to Peak 9037, simply park along the road where it reaches the saddle between Peak 9037 and Trinity Mountain. Climb the steep, but class 2 east ridge.

For Trinity, you can start at the aforementioned saddle or you can drive up the road about a third of a mile to a gate where some parking is available. Simply follow the road to the lookout atop of the peak.
